Abstract

Selected persistent organic pollutants residues (DDT, DDE, DDD) were analysed in the surface soils of Ha Noi, Viet Nam. The sampling locations were chosen at random with an attempt to get them evenly distributed over selected region. Results show that ΣDDT concentrations ranged from not detected (ND) to 171,83 ng/g. Investigation of the ratio of DDT and its metabolites in the soil samples indicates that there is little recent input of DDT in the study area. The decreasing trends of ΣDDT levels during the period from 1992 to 2006 are observed.
