Abstract

Recently, the prediction of the mechanical characteristics of concrete according to its components' properties has been great interest. In the current study, attempts have been made to some experimental models to predict the modulus of elasticity of high strength - high performance concrete (HS-HPC) based on some known characteristics of the concrete mix (the percentage of mineral admixtures, aggregate, and water to cementitiuos materials ratios ...). To predict the modulus of elasticity of HS-HPC based on the compressive strength and research the influence of shrinkage reducing admixture on modulus of elasticity, two of water to cementitiuos materials ratios (W/CM = 0.22 and 0.40) and four percentage of shrinkage reducing admixture (0%, 1%, 2% and 4%) were selected. The specimens were cast, cured and tested after 7 and 28 days to determine the modulus of elasticity and compressive strength. The credibility of model was verified using some independent experimental data and comparison of the predicted model with some experimental models from the literature.
