Abstract

In recent years, the socio-economic development of Ca Mau Peninsula is in a rapidly growing. Besides, there is the rapid change process for production, especially from ecology of freshwater zone to ecology of saline zone (from rice to shrimp farming) which leads to the infrastructure could not adopt require of production, especially irrigation system. In the past, water was used primarily for agriculture, but now it is also supplied for aquaculture, which has led to appear many shortcomings in the irrigation system. Moreover, under the pressure of economic development and rapid population growth, the water demand in the study area has been increasing. Discharging into water sources has caused more serious water pollution. For the Ca Mau Peninsula, the areas most affected by the deterioration in water resources are the transition areas of the production model from rice to shrimp farming, or industrial and service zones. This article will be shown the result of the survey and assessment of the status of exploitation and use of water resources and the assessment of surface water quality in order to propose solutions to manage and reduce surface water pollution in the study area.
