Abstract

    SWASH model is a relatively new time-domain wave propagation model based on nonlinear shallow water equations with non-hydrostatic pressure. The applicability of SWASH model for simulating rip currents on an artificial barred beach is investigated in this paper. The result shows that the characteristics of rip currents are imitated very well. The distinguishing features of flows on the channels are created quite the same with realistic motion of rip flows.
