Testing and evaluating the braking efficiency of a truck

Abstract
This paper introduces the results of testing the brake efficiency on a roller brake test bed and on the road for a medium-sized truck. The brake efficiency is evaluated at no-load and loaded modes at different levels in all tests. According to the results of the brake test on the test bed, the brake system meets technical safety and environmental protection standards, but when tested on the road, the braking distance increases by 24% when the load increases 62%. That proves that even though the brake system has passed the test standard, it still has a hidden risk of losing traffic safety when traveling on the road. The manner and the results obtained in this study are just a specific truck case, so more in-depth studies are needed to evaluate the effect of load on vehicle braking performance.
