Relationship between detetion pond areas and pond effluent flows in an urban drainage system: case study of Dam river basin in drainage system Hanoi

Abstract

     Recent studies on detention ponds have focused mainly on environment and how ponds effecting drainage headworks. This paper examines the link between pond areas/its locations and flows in an urban drainage system. We applied a storm water management model to simulate hydraulic flow in the Đăm river basin of the Nhue River, Hanoi. The results show a reversed relationship between pond areas and pond effluent flows, and that between distrbuted pond locations and the total maximum flows in the system.
