Abstract

Rainfall-runoff model is an effective tool that has been widely used in the water resources area. The essence of this type of model is to simulate physical processes by simple mathematical equations through the parameters. In this study, the Fourier amplitude sensitivity testing (FAST) technique was
applied to evaluate the sensitivity indexes of the parameters of the HEC HMS model in flood simulation. The research was applied for Nam Ly basin in Ha Giang province. The study evaluated the importance of the parameters in the HEC HMS model for output results. The result shows CN is the most important
parameter for peak discharge and total volume while rising time is determined by Tlag. Based on the results of the study, the process of model calibration and validation will be minimized because the most sensitive parameters have been localized.
