Abstract

Tourism carying capacity is one of the factors that plays an important role in tourist destination management in particular, in the policy of sustainable tourism development of a tourist site in general. The study uses calculations of tourist capacity for Canh Cuoc island (in Van Don district, Quang Ninh province), on this island in recent years, there has been evidence of "local" overload of a tourist destination. Based on the method of calculating the physical capacity and the psychological capacity, this article provides the maximum number of tourists allowed to visit and relax at some beaches on this island in order to avoid causing serious problems and negative impacts to ensure sustainable development on the island. The research results will contribute to supporting the management policies of the local authority to help manage the tourist destinations on Canh Cuoc Island in line with the goal of 'sustainable tourism development'.
