Abstract

The study shares how to exploit and process multi-temporal satellite images in studying changes in mangrove forest area. Landsat 8 image data was used to study changes in mangrove forest area in Kim Son district, Ninh Binh province in the period of 2015-2023. The results of remote sensing image interpretation and the map overlay outcomes show that: in the 8-year period from, the total area of mangrove forest in Kim Son district increased from 564.05 ha (2015) to 676.09 ha (2023), an increase of 112.04 ha. Mangrove forests area has fluctuated due to the impact of many factorsrelated to State policies on the management and exploitation of mangrove forests, including the construction of economic models combining forest protection management and aquaculture; creating long-term stable livelihoods for people living near the forest.
