Abstract
The main wetland ecosystems in the coastal area of Kim Son district include mangrove forest, aquaculture, intertidal mudflat, and Con Noi ecosystems. These are young ecosystems with low stability. During the period 2000-2023, these ecosystems have been changed significantly in area. The mangrove ecosystem decreased 76.6%; aquaculture area increased 366.1%; the intertidal mudflat decreased 22.9%; the Con Noi area increased 327.1%. The change in the area of coastal wetland ecosystems in Kim Son district is due to the influence of natural and human causes, including the State's policies on land reclamation from the sea, aquacultural development, and management of mangrove forests. By using mapping, remote sensing and GIS methods combined with field surveys, this study focuses on clarifying the changes in the area of coastal wetland ecosystems in Kim Son district, Ninh Binh from 2000-2023 as a basis for sustainable management of coastal resources.
