Abstract
The paper analyzes livelihood diversification and proposes solutions for sustainable poverty reduction in Son Dong district, Bac Giang province. Using the DFID Sustainable Livelihoods Framework, 2025 household survey data, descriptive statistics, the Livelihood Diversification Index (LDI), and SWOT analysis, the study finds that local livelihoods remain mainly dependent on low-value, vulnerable agroforestry activities. The average LDI (0.356) indicates limited income diversification. Emerging models such as medicinal plant cultivation, beekeeping, OCOP (One Commune One Product) , and community-based tourism show initial success but limited scale. On so doing, the paper proposes key solutions including strengthening vocational training, promoting sustainable livelihood models based on local advantages, expanding credit access and value-chain linkages, and enhancing the role of cooperatives and community awareness.
