Abstract

The pursuit of social responsibility in manufacturing is an effective policy approach to minimize the negative impacts of businesses on the natural and social environment. From a geopolitical perspective and a qualitative approach, the study clarifies the current situation and identifies a number of issues in the implementation of social and environmental responsibility of enterprises exploiting and processing building materials in Thanh Liem district (Ha Nam province). The results show that environmental social responsibility in two enterprises selected for the case study has been pursued. At the same time, there is a significant improvement in the implementation of environmental social responsibility in other mining enterprises in stone processing for construction materials compared to that of 5 years ago. The article suggests that, in order for construction materials stone processing enterprises to implement social and environmental responsibilities, it is necessary to link them to the specific geographical, economic, and political context of Thanh Liem district, close supervision by the State, the local people, and other stakeholders.
