Abstract

Truong Xuan Lake (in Dong Tien commune, Co To district, the Northeastern Quang Ninh province) was built and put into use at the end of 2012. The lake has an area of 414,695 m2, a storage capacity of 170,000 m3. This lake has an important meaning in providing water for daily life and tourism on Co To island district. The results of research on water quality in the lake show that the content of organic substances, nutrients, and heavy metals in the lake water is within the allowable limits of QCVN (column A1), the WQI value of lake water is from 95 - 97, the water is neutral, and the water quality is good. However, some parameters have concentrations that are about to exceed the limit of QCVN 08-MT:2015/BTNMT (column A1) such as COD, BOD5, N-NO3, N-NH4. In addition, the water quality of Truong Xuan Lake changes over time and has a very clear seasonality. In the period 2016-2021, the concentration of pollutants in lake water will increase in the peak tourist season, coinciding with the second and third quarters of each year, and decrease in the low tourist season, coinciding with the first quarter of the year with the first and the fourth quarters.
