This article used a global value chain perspective, input - output analysis method with value-added trade data in to study the participation of Vietnam’s tourism in the global value chains through specific tourism-related industries in the period of 2017 - 2021. The study's results show that Vietnam’s tourism-related industries had noticeable patterns, especially when tourism was affected by COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, this article points out some issues to be considered when participating in the global value chains of Vietnam’s tourism and provides some recommendations to improve efficiency for Vietnam's role in the global tourism value chains.
