Abstract

Bach Long Vi Island is located near the center of the economic zone within Gulf of Tonkin, with huge potentials for developing multi-sector marine economy, including fisheries and its logistics, marine transport and tourism along with great values for claiming, expanding and ensuring national sovereignty and interests at sea. Based on analyzing the potentials and current status of marine economic development and SWOT outcomes, this article has proposed synchronous socio-economic solutions to ensure and improve the economic life of people on the island, strengthening security, defense and developing the marine economy: synchronous planning and investment attraction; constructing culture, creating products to promote tourism development; building and applying participatory community models in conservation, sustainable exploitation and use of marine ecosystems on a large scale.
