Abstract
Agriculture and forestry are important economic sectors in the Northern mountainous region, closely linked to natural conditions. Van Yen district is located in the Nnorthern of Yen Bai province, with favorable geographical position and natural conditions for developing agricultural and forestry crops. This article uses the weighted AHP pair comparison method combined with expert opinions in the process of researching and assessing landscape ecology for agricultural and forestry development. The results assessment for agricultural development show that: the studied territory has a relatively low percentage of area for agricultural development classified as very adaptive (rice: 1.66%; other annual crops: 3.78%; perennial plants: 7.04%); and a relatively high percentage of are for forestry development classified as very adaptive (production forests: 44.36%; specialty forests cinnamon: 26.1%). Spatial orientation for agriculture and forestry development is oriented towards prioritizing developing specialty forests cinnamon, reducing planted forest area, strictly preserving protection and special-use forests, stabilizing areas of agricultural crops.
