Preparation of polyimide from melamine and pyromellitic dianhydride by microwave irradiation

Abstract

Under microwave irradiation, the reaction time of PMDA and melamine in DMSO was shortened to just 30 minutes. Structure of the obtained polyimide was characterized by FTIR, and its thermal stability was confirmed by TGA analysis. The longer reaction time in DMSO solution up to 30 h at high temperature was required.
