Abstract

In Mental Spaces, Giles Fauconier stated that with any language expression, it would evoke a mental space in the mind of the perceiver. This is a totally appropriate theory for linguistic research under cognitive viewpoint. It has been verified not only in linguistics but also in psychology, neurology, cultural study, philosophy, ethnography, etc. In this article, we examine the cognitive space elements of the perception verbs include inside and outside factors. Inside factors are preceptor/perceiver/agent/experiencer, entity/perceived/stimulus, perception organs, sentient ability, source, location, distance, path, direction, viewpoint, target, definition, layer, planning, way of cognition and logic of cognition. Outside factors include culture, knowledge, ethnic, geographic location, and way of thinking.
