Research on linguistic features in videos introducing Chinese historical figures on the TikTok platform

Abstract

Abstract: This study focuses on the characteristic features of language in videos introducing
Chinese historical figures on the TikTok platform. Based on systemic functional linguistics,
multimodal communication theory, and discourse analysis theory, the research clarifies the use of
vocabulary, sentence structures, and strategies for attracting viewers. The research results show that
the language in these videos is concise, emotionally rich, and incorporates colloquial elements.
Multimodal elements such as images, sound, and subtitles contribute to enhancing the effectiveness
of conveying historical content. The article also proposes several teaching methods for the Chinese
history course and language acquisition in a digital context.
