CHARACTERISTICS OF SUPRA-SEGMENTS IN CONNECTED SPEECH OF ENGLISH AND ÊĐÊ

Abstract

This article gives an overview of some characteristics of supra-segments in connected speech of English contrasted with those of Êđê. The research is based on the teaching materials of English with a recorded disc of native speakers, and based on linguistic knowledge of phonetics and phonology with contrastive analysis. A contrast of suprasegments in English and Êđê language in connected speech is necessary for Êđê learners to study English with the purpose of communication.
