METAPHOR AND METONYMY IN THE WORD CREATION OF VIETNAMSE

Abstract

The study is about the relations of meaning in polysemy; role of literal meaning, derivative meaning (metaphor, metonymy) in word creation; symbol in word creation; kinds of combination of morphemes in a word. From this study we can say that the morphemes that have derivative meaning of metaphor or metonymy have a very important role in word creation.
