This paper investigated conceptual metaphors of “fire” in American and Vietnamese 20th century poetry. Then, it found out some similarities and differences in conceptual metaphors of “fire” in the two languages. Moreover, this research hopes to be an inspiration to those who are interested in conceptual metaphors in poetry, especially those of fire
