Abstract

This article discusses collectivism and individualism denoted in language and communication, gives some Vietnamese and English examples to compare and prove. Some barriers in intercultural communication such as assumption of similarities, nonverbal misinterpretations and tendency to evaluate are also discussed to enhance understanding and respect for cultural diversity, contributing to the success of communication, especially intercultural communication
