Abstract

In communication, Chinese and Vietnamese often pay much attention to using the words to show respect or politeness such as Qing in Chinese and “mời” in Vietnamese. There are clear-cut differences and similarities between Qing and “mời” in two languages; therefore, this paper aims to identify these differences and similarities. The ultimate goal of this paper is to give a few recommendations to improve the effectiveness of teaching Chinese to Vietnamese.
