On the attitudes expressed by the criticizing utterances in Vietnamese conversations

Abstract

   The article is about attitudes of some kinds displayed by Vietnamese people in criticizing utterances in Vietnamese conversations. These attitudes are dealt with culture with a view to help readers see attitudes the Vietnamese express through the speech act of criticizing, a seriously damaging face-threatening act. This vrill help not only Vietnamese to be more aware when giving criticisms but also Vietnamese learners to improve tiie eflfectiveness of the study of Vietnamese as well as cross-cultural commimication when interlocutors feel obliged to resort to this speech act.
