Abstract

Abstract: This article conducts a contrastive study of the structure “V+出+O” in Modern Chinese
and “V+ra+O” in Vietnamese across several dimensions: constituent elements, structural meanings,
and internal word order. The findings indicate that while “出” and “ra” share similarities in
directional and basic resultative meanings, they exhibit certain differences in spatial perception and
syntactic functions. Notably, the study highlights the flexibility of word order in the Vietnamese
structure compared to the fixed nature of its Chinese counterpart, while clarifying specific semantic
nuances unique to the “V+ra+O” structure.
Key words: V+出+O; V+ra+O; contrastive study; similarities; differences.
