Influence of preharvest Kiviva treatment on quality and storability of fresh litchi fruits

Abstract

The experiment was conducted on litchi fruits var. ‘Thieu’ grown at Luc Ngan, Bac Giang province. Litchi fruits were harvest on the trees which have been treated by spraying Kiviva (including plant growth regulators and minerals) at concentration of 0.25g/l at different times. It has been shown that Kiviva significantly improves the quality and lengthens the storability of the litchi fruits. Among the tested formulas, three applications with Kiviva were best to reduce weight loss, rate of fruit rot, TSS and vitamin C content and to maintain the fruit skin colour. After 4 weeks, fruits stored at 5oC retained nutritional and organoleptic quality.
