Abstract

This paper focuses on the study of a combination of metafrontier and DEA, called DEA metafrontier proposed by O'Donnell and Co-workers (2008). This model was developed to overcome the limitations of the basic models of DEA in comparing the performance of different units of study samples. The author's paper, therefore, employs this model to measure and compare the performance of 116 Vietnamese universities in three geographic regions: North, Central and South. The results show that the geographic location as well as the socio-economic conditions of each region have had a significant impact on the effectiveness of universities.
