Abstract

The study uses Bayesian methods with data from countries worldwide to conclude the impact of foreign direct investment (FDI) on sustainable development. Then, the research results are used to regress a model with data from Vietnam from 2005-2022. The regression results for Vietnam show that FDI has a negative impact on sustainable development (SDGI) with a probability of 65.33%. Similarly, variables such as fiscal decentralization imbalance control (VIF), fiscal expenditure decentralization (ED),financial development (FD), economic growth (GDP), unemployment rate (UN), regulation quality (RQ), and population growth rate (POP) also negatively impact sustainable development. In contrast, variables such as fiscal revenue decentralization (RD), tax revenue (TAX), inflation (INF), and trade openness(OPEN) positively impact sustainable development. Based on these results, the study offers several policy implications for attracting foreign direct investmenttowards sustainable development.
