RESEARCH ON THE APPLICATION OF MERS CONVERTER RENEWING MAGNETIC ENERGY

Abstract

In this paper, the application of the Magnetic Energy Recovery Switch (MERS) is investigated to improve energy efficiency and power factor in three-phase induction motors. By recovering and reusing the residual magnetic energy during motor operation, overall system efficiency can be enhanced. Through simulation, it is demonstrated that when the MERS is employed, reactive power is effectively eliminated, the power factor is stabilized at cosφ = 1, and the motor speed is maintained close to its rated value. These results highlight the potential of the MERS to be applied in industrial drive systems, contributing to energy savings and sustainable development
