THE EFFECT OF NANOPARTICLES AND ADDITIVES ON FRACTAL DIMENSION OF STREAMER DISCHARGE

Abstract

Research of streamer discharge occurring in transformer oil helps to better understand the mechanics of their initiation and propagation, It’s useful for optimizing transformer insulation design and operation. This paper is aimed to evaluate the influence of additives and nanoparticles used in the research of streamer discharge in transformer oil to the fractal dimension. By using the Box counting method (BCM) in calculating fractal dimensions, the results showed the relationship between the fractal dimension and the shape of streamer, electrode polarity, nanomaterials or additives used in insulating oils.
