Abstract

Abstract: Athough being a French writer, mainly choosing France as the main context, Linda Le's novel transcends national boundaries, touches distant lands, where identity, roots are not important. Trauma and exile become the dominant inspiration in many works of Linda Le, of which Groundswell is typical. Groundswell is the novel that best shows the similarities between Linda Le and the characters. The work depicts the portraits of men and women who come from different cultural regions but have the same emotional trauma. Thus, through the tragedy of people being displaced from their homeland, the novel Groundswell mentions the journey to find Vietnamese identity of expatriates.
