The experiential meaning of texts and images in news on online newspaper from multimodal discourse analysis perspective

Abstract

Abstract: This article is aimed to explore the experiential meaning of texts and images in news on online newspaper from multimodal discourse analysis perspective. The first part briefly presents the basic contents of the theory of Systemic Functional Linguistics and Multimodal Discourse Analysis. The second part investigates experiential meaning of texts and images from 100 news based on the analytical framework by Kress and Van Leeuwen, analysis the correlations between texts and images to clarify the role of the two modes in making meanings in news on online newspaper.
