TRENDS OF CLIMATE FACTORS IN KIEN GIANG PROVINCE

Abstract

The paper presents trends of climate factors including temperature, rainfall, humidity, evaporation, wind, and sunny hours in Kien Giang province for the period 2005 - 2019. The statistical method and linear regression function were applied to analyze observed data at Rach Gia and Phu Quoc stations in the period 1986 - 2019. The results showed that the average monthly temperature reached about 27.6^oC while the average annual rainfall was at 2,100 mm at Rach Gia station and 2,800 mm at Phu Quoc station. The rainy season began from May to November and the dry season started from December to April next year. The average minimum temperature was 24.9^oC and January had the lowest temperature. The average maximum temperature was 31^oC, and the highest monthly temperature of the year was May. The average relative humidity attained about 81% while the number of annual sunny hours was at 2,370 hours for Phu Quoc station and at 2,533 for Rach Gia station. The average wind speed is about 3 m/s. In conclusion, temperature tended to increase while rainfall and other climate factors had different increases or decreases between the two stations.
