THE STEPS OF EUROPEAN SOCIAL DEMOCRACY TO ANSWER THE CHALLENGE OF THE EARLY 21st CENTURY

In this paper the authors analyze and evaluate the ways Social Democrats in Europe have dealt with challenges since the beginning of the 21st Century. The authors argue that the ways Europe's social democrats use to deal with their crisises depend largely on whether they find the right balance between the internationalism historically inherent in the democratic movement society and the need to protect national identity. Thus, social democrats are forced to penetrate and dig up ideas not only from the ideological baggage of liberalism but also of conservatism.
