THE RESULTS OF SURGICAL TREATMENT ON PATIENTS WITH ACUTE ARTERIAL OCCLUSION OF LOWER LIMBS
Abstract
Objectives: Evaluate the results of embolectomy due to acute lower limb arterial occlusion about: clinical, treatment methods, outcome and risk factors leading to embolism and limb amputation.
Methods: Retrospective study, 38 cases from 12/2020 – 12/2022 at People’s hospital 155.
Results: 38 cases were included, with the average age of 68 ± 16 years. Time from embolization to surgery: 8.67 ± 3.77 hours. Embolism occurred mostly at the femoral-popliteal level. Morbidity of thrombosis were atherosclerosis, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, atrial fibrillation. 30 cases exhibited good outcome (78.9%) anh the amputation rate was 10.5%.
Conclusion: Femoral artery embolectomy is the main treatment method with the success rate of 78.9%. Symptoms of paraesthesia and limb weakness indicate limb amputation. Embolectomy in under 6-8 hours from embolism onset is recommended.
