RESULTS OF PEMBERTON OSTEOTOMY FOR TREATMENT DEVELOPMENTAL DYSPLASIA OF THE HIP IN CHILDREN

Abstract

Background: Developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) is one of the most difficult disease in pediatric orthopaedic. In Viet Nam, we do not have any screening program for neonate. Thus, we usually treat the patient at the walking age. At this age, we need to carry out pelvic osteotomies.

Objective: Evaluate results of Pemberton osteotomy in clinical and radiology aspects.

Method: Prospective study is used for all cases DDH which operated and follow up at the Pediatric Orthopedic Ward of HTO.

Result: This study consists of 36 cases of DDH which operated by Pembrton osteotomy with 17.2 months of follow up. Clinical (McKay), the functional results in 92% patients were good. According to Severin’s classification, 97.2% patients were good.
