Community participation in the sustainable development of transport infrastructure projects in Vietnam

Abstract

Abstract: In the context of Vietnam’s transition toward “green
growth” and “inclusive development”, transport infrastructure can
only achieve sustainability through active community engagement.
This article analyzes the role of community participation in
ensuring the sustainability of transport infrastructure projects in
Vietnam, basing on legal frameworks, implementation practices,
and international experience. The findings indicate that public
participation is essential for improving investment efficiency,
mitigating social conflicts, strengthening public trust, and
promoting sustainable development. Accordingly, the article
proposes key measures such as institutional improvement,
information transparency, community capacity enhancement,
and independent monitoring mechanisms strengthening
