GREEN TRANSFORMATION IN ROAD TRANSPORT IN VIETNAM TODAY
Keywords:
Abstract
Abstract: Transportation is a dynamic
and essential sector for economic
development – while also being a major
source of CO₂ and other greenhouse gas
(GHG) emissions. In Vietnam, the pace
of urbanization, economic growth, and
the consumption of private vehicles have
caused transport emissions to gradually
increase, creating a strong imperative
for transitioning to a "green transport"
model – which means reducing emissions,
increasing energy efficiency, and promoting
clean vehicles and public transit. This
article assesses the current status, policies,
and progress of the green transition in
Vietnam's transportation sector. The
paper identifies strengths, limitations, and
proposes strategies to accelerate the shift
towards a less carbon-intensive, safer, and
more efficient transportation system.
