COMMUNITY CONSULTATION: THE FOUNDATION OF SUSTAINABLE URBAN PLANNING IN ASIA

Abstract

Abstract: The article emphasizes the role of community consultation in
sustainable urban development in Asia, through typical examples such as
"City in a Garden" (Singapore) and the Kobe Redevelopment Project (Japan).
Community consultation helps shape projects that reflect residents' aspirations,
improve feasibility, maintain cultural values, and move towards environmental
protection. Methods such as opinion surveys, face-to-face meetings, and in-depth
discussions have shown their effectiveness in reducing conflicts and building
social consensus.
