Behaviour of reinforced concrete deep beams in high rise buildings

Abstract

High rise buildings are a complex project that has many functions such as: commercial and service activities on the lower floors, offices and apartments on the upper floors... This requires the larger spans for the lower floors while smaller spans for the upper ones. With such a spatial structure, a large transfer structure (deep beams) is required to carry load of the upper floors and tranfer to lower areas of the tall buildings. This paper describes the behaviour of reinforced concrete transfer beam structures used in high buildings.
