Implementation of 220 kV substation control system used for training Electrical Engineering students

Abstract

     In this study, the authors built a 3D model of the 220 kV substation based on information collected from an actual operating substation. This 3D model-applied electrical engineering training has helped students see actual images, connection diagrams, and installation locations of electrical equipment intuitively and vividly. An integrated control system simulation program is also built with learning modules that allow learners to practice controlling electrical systems via personal computers. Therefore, this research is important in training learners with practical knowledge from universities compared to traditional training methods in this field. The research result also helps shorten the training time and increase job opportunities for students after graduation.
