Abstract

This paper experimentally investigates the heat transfer of a free- impinging
jet to a heated flat metal plate surface. A water jet stream is carried out
horizontally through a mica tube with an inner diameter of D = 10mm onto the
surface of a copper metal sheet placed vertically in the atmosphere. The
temperature field at the metal plate surface is investigated through infrared
thermal camera imaging. From there, the results are used to calculate and plot
the Nusselt coefficient relationship according to the ratio of the radial coordinate
to the nozzle diameter (r/D). Discussions of the influence of several parameters on
the heat transfer of this jet stream configuration are discussed.
