EFFECTIVELYPREVENTING HARMFUL INSECTS ON CHERRY TOMATO PLANTS WITH THE VEGETATION EXTRACTS AT THEEXPERIMENTAL AREA, AN GIANG UNIVERSITY

Abstract

This study of effectivelypreventing harmful insects on cherry tomato plants with vegetation extractsfrom chilli, garlic, chilli-garlic, and Neem tree (Melia azedarach) extract were conducted at the Experimental Area, An Giang University. The experiment with 5 treatments (each of 3 plants) and 3 replications was carried out in the period from January 1^st, 2018 to April 20^th, 2018. The results showed that all four extracts were highly effective, andthe Neem extractwas the bestat 3 and 5 days after spraying over 50%. Specifically, for aphids (Aphis gossypii)it reached 78.71% after 7 days of spraying; forleafworm moth (Spodoptera litura) 66.72% after 3 days of spraying; and forsilverleaf whitefly (Bemisia tabaci) 77.46% after 1 day spraying. The Neem extract is considered the most effective herbalsincontrolling cherrytomato insects.
