Developing 3rd graders’ practical problem-solving competences through teaching of numerical and calculation contents

Teaching mathematics with practical applications is one of the viewpoints in the general education program of Mathematics. In teaching, teachers organize learning activities for students to connect mathematical knowledge to reality in many different forms such as experiential activities, practice, mathematic exercises, etc. This approach connects mathematic knowledge with reality through mathematic exercises solving with practical elements is the key point. Current, teaching to apply mathematical knowledge to solve practical problems through math exercises solving is still quite limited, due to many different reasons depending a lot on the students' competences. This article presents basic issues related to solve practical problems competences of students. Then, it proposes some teaching measures to develop these competences among students. The article contributes to teaching and learning to develop students' competences.
