Evaluating financial efficiency of Chinese cabbage cultivation model inside and outside the net house in Binh Tan District, Vinh Long Province

Abstract

The study was carried out in Tan Quoi town and 3 communes Thanh Loi, Tan Binh and Tan An Thanh from Binh Tan district with Chinese cabbage growing in large areas. Data were from surveying 80 households producing Chinese cabbage inside and outside the net house, 6 agricultural leaders of district and commune. The main research objectives were to evaluate the current status, financial efficiency and factors affecting target profits. Results show that the production of Chinese cabbage in Binh Tan district, Vinh Long province has been developing and oriented towards protecting the health of consumers. The outside-net cabbage has a higher rate of pests and diseases than the inside. In terms of financial efficiency/1,000m² of growing land between the inside and the outside, the revenue is 1.6 times higher, the profit is 2.7 times higher, capital efficiency is 0.70 VND and 0.33 VND, respectively. In addition, the study also identified factors affecting profits together with solutions to support and improve the efficiency of Chinese cabbage in Binh Tan district in the coming time.
