TECHNICAL EFFICIENCY OF BLACK TIGER SHRIMP FARMING HOUSEHOLDS IN BAC LIEU PROVINCE

Abstract

The technical efficiency and the scale efficiency in this study were estimated by input-oriented data envelopment analysis method, using the data from the survey on 127 tiger - shrimp farming households in Bac Lieu Province, 44 intensive farms, 44 semi-intensive and 39 extensive farms. Research results show that the technical efficiency of semi-intensive farming households (67.6%) is higher than that of intensive (59%) and extensive (36.1%). The results also show that the scale efficiency of intensive, semi-intensive and extensive farming households is 79.9%, 75.3% and 41.1%, respectively.
