EXISTENTIAL INSPIRATION IN NGUYEN THI THUY VU'S WORKS

Abstract

Literature, especially decent literary works, has its own way of timeless existence. After more than 40 years of absence due to historical changes, all ten works by Nguyen Thi Thuy Vu again were seen during 2016 and 2017. The cheerful welcome of the previous readers and the surprising excitement of the new ones have demonstrated their timeless appeal. Nguyen Thi Thuy Vu was consisdered one of the top five female writers of Southern urban literature from 1954 to 1975 for her positive contribution in terms of genres, themes and outstanding artistic style. Researching her writings indicates that her works are influenced by existential theory to some extent. Such inspiration brings the image of a lonely person in a world with full of fluctuation as well as worries and aspirations to grow, demonstrating his uniqueness. Based on unassertive existentialism, the works by Nguyen Thi Thuy Vu are of human reflections on life rather than a philosophical orientation.
