Abstract

Utilising the dataset "Enterprise Survey 2010" of General Statistics Office of Viet Nam, this article investigates the effect of entrepreneurial characteristics on firm performance. The results show that the impact of the female owner and owner's age are positive and significant on performance while the impact of owner's education is negative and significant on firm performance, proxied by ROA and ROE ratio. This study also indicates that, the private enterprises that established and managed by female owners have lower risk level than those firms directed by male counterparts. The result also contributes to boost gender equality on business administration in particular and in Viet Nam in general.
