Abstract

Community culture, whether in the delta or on the coast, serves as the identity and expresses the fundamental principles of every Vietnamese village. This distinct culture has been continued and preserved to this day through thousands of years as a result of the historical circumstances and daily survival of each village community. However, Vietnamese island people face difficulties and challenges when they adjust their culture and acculturate to a new environment, which makes life difficult for them. Based on secondary data sources and findings from a qualitative survey of six communities conducted by the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences in 2021–2022 in the three provinces of Quang Ninh, Quang Nam, and Ca Mau with the theme of "Livelihoods of coastal residents under the influence of climate change" in light of the emergence of new, unanticipated situations of cultural adaptation (opportunity for unity, challenge), this article applies community culture to all aspects of the islanders' daily lives.
